Microsoft vs. Apple stock

This morning over at MakeYouGoHmm I wrote a detailed piece on why I changed my mind about purchasing Microsoft stock and am buying Apple instead. If you look around our two offices, you'll see a lot more Microsoft products than Apple, but I am thinking -- at least on the financial front -- that there is some very good upside potential in Apple right now. I'm going to put some money where my thinking is and see where it goes.

I don't know how much these Volvo ads are bringing in, but I don't see this as the type of revenue that Microsoft was/is hoping for with Spaces long term.

MSDN meeting at the Sheraton tomorrow

I'm signed up for the MSDN meeting at the Sheraton tomorrow but I'm only about 75% sure I'll be attending at this point. Lots of stuff happening here and I may need to duck out of this one to do some coding and database work instead. However, I won Visual Studio .NET full version ($1000 value) at the last MSDN event I attended so that is a nice perk for those who attend. The chance of winning something is usually pretty good at these events as there are usually only 50 or so people there. Better odds than playing the lottery.

What's kind of funny is the guy who tried to offer me $100 for the software as we were walking out of the meeting. Er, no, I'm not going to sell a brand new sealed version of Visual Studio NETfor 10% of the retail value. Heck, if I were to sell it anywhere, then it would be on eBay where I'd get at least 60% of the retail value. Got back from CES almost 48 hours ago and the decompression time is almost up. Wow, lots and lots of info to absorb! I put some of it together today on my main blog but there's much to still go through. I've caught up with most the email and phone calls now so tomorrow it's back to the coding mines. It seems if one takes a few days away from blogging he ends up with tons more to blog about. Particularly on my mind at the moment concerning Microsoft is:

The multiple bags of CES swag
Whatever else that's on my mind but I'm just not remembering as I type this blog entry

My Events/Meetings Calendar via RSS for CES 2005

With two back to back conventions coming up in Vegas in January 2005, I'm starting to organize/add events and meetings, and this year I'm publishing and sharing my calendar via RSS. Those who subscribe can do the following:

import events into MS Outlook (VCal) or Mac (ICal) or subscribe via RSS feed (keep reading for details)

If you are attending a seminar or meeting in Vegas during CES that you think I might like to attend then please use the comments (or email me) to tell me about it so I can review and add if it is of interest to me and doesn't conflict with something I already have scheduled. As in year's past, my schedule will likely fill up fast as I have numerous clients, prospective clients and people I want/need to meet with while down there not to mention the plethora of seminars and events, so please get in early if you want to schedule some time together. We arrive Tuesday afternoon January 4, 2005 and leave Sunday night Jan 9, 2005.

If you'd like to schedule an individual/private meeting then please let me know the date/time you'd be available and the purpose of our meeting (I will just list your name, date and time and one word purpose of meeting like "business", "tablet PC demo", "blog/podcast discussion" and that it's a private meeting).
